11 year old SMA child who cannot move any part of his body, cannot talk, eats with a tube and needs mechanical ventilation to breathe. |

However, he possesses normal intelligence and is the first ventilator assisted child to be able to attend special school. |
 Chan Siu Chung is 8 years old. He lived in the Duchess of Kent Childrenˇ¦s Hospital since birth and was only discharged recently to join his family at home. Siu Chung loves to watch television and listens to radio.

 On 3 January 2008, we had a warm New Year celebration with our SMA patient, Chow Pui Shan, who has lived in the hospital since birth. |
 Families of SMA organized a special Motherˇ¦s Day Party on May 3, 2008 at the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine as one of the celebrations of the Trustˇ¦s 10th anniversary. Moreover, we also showed our support and appreciation to those mothers who have made and continue to make untold sacrifices and herculean effort to care and manage their severely disabled children. |
